WS603 - Adapter DS9097U not detected uisng OpenSuSe Linux

Postby Bailey » Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:07 pm

Hi All,

When trying to talk to the WS603A using the usb to serial converter the WS603B I get the following error:
Port found "/dev/ttyUSB0" but Adapter "DS9097U" not detected

This means the WS603B was found but there wasn't any adapter found.
Any ideas ? I'm using OpenSuSe 11.1.

When I installed the WS602B is got the correct device drivers I thought. Here is the dmesg associated with installing the WS603B

USB Adaptor in the Trial Code

Postby RedTussock » Wed Jul 29, 2009 10:17 pm

Any luck, I have a similar problem, with openSuSE 11.0. No adaptor found at the get go. I think it unlikely reading through the messages on this forum that there is much support for Linux installs. I have to say I am disappointed. I have OWW running but would like to setup my own java interface. In many ways had I known that the book does not support USB on Linux I would very likely not purchased it. Caveat emptor as they say.

I realize that this thread is over a year old but I'm one of the few Linux users around here and I have had great success with the DS9490 USB 1-Wire Adapter. I describe what I did here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=439&p=1031&hilit=linux#p1031

One thing I noticed is that USB devices can have some particular permissions imposed on them through the UDEV system. I was struggling for a long time before I accidentally tried running something as root and it suddenly worked. If you haven't tried it yet, you may try running this as root to see if you get different results.
