Is this forum dead?

Postby lobsterman » Sun Feb 07, 2010 2:19 pm

With all due respect, there are no recent posts here. Has the RWS just gone away, or is it complete and no one needs assistance?

I'm just getting interested but has the action has moved elsewhere?

dead?

I don't feel too many users have adopted the Rabbit. It still remains one of my preferred platforms. TINI is just a bit easier to get started with, and the 1-wire interface is more robust. On the the other hand, the Rabbit has considerably more processing power. With the new WiFi MiniCore development system at $149, it's a great option for a wireless weather system.

Tim,

I note Rabbit has some new models now. Do you happen to know if your code only works with the 4000 or might it work with the 5600, which seems to be the current unit on the $149 offer?

Yes, the code will run on a Rabbit 5000 series micro. A couple of the API call have been deprecated and you'll get a warning when compiling, but the code runs fine. You can update the 2 or 3 API calls or I can post an update. I've got 2 of the $149 WiFi unit I just bought running now to monitor the temperature in my attic.

Tim,

How many 1-wire devices can you connect to the input of one of those Rabbit boards?

Since your using the Rabbit's serial port to drive a DS9097U 1-wire adapter, I would guess between 10 to 20 devices, depending on the type. Look at the data sheet for the DS9097U
